Minted is having a inspiration board contest. First Thought – Oh great! Another 3 hours of my life lost to Pinterest… I used my Joy in a Box design as my jumping off point. The photo has a vintage/rustic feel to it, but the design is very minimal and modern. I wanted the board to capture a modern rustic Christmas. What do you think? Fancy yourself a go at the contest? I found this very encouraging since I feel like I’m in a creative rut at the moment.  This is so true even if you’ve have years of experience under your belt.  As you get more “mature”, it’s hard to keep up with the lastest and greatest. More important matters come into play. For me,  it’s my darling family and our new home. Yeah , I know I’m not at the top of my game anymore, but I’m okay with that. I still try to learn a new skill and stretch my horizons whenever I get the chance. I took a watercolor class, bought a book on how to doodle. I think my problem is that if I don’t think I can do something well right off the bat, I’m prone to never even trying. So I have to force myself  to try new things and allow myself a BIG learning curve, now that I can’t just disappear for a couple week for full emersion design training. I just have to try things here and there and be okay with not finishing because my life is made up of interruptions at the moment. Slow and steady always wins the race. =)
